How can I get started?
In many ways you have already started the process which is an incredible and brave step. My goal is to support you as you continue to move forward. Therefore, I offer a free phone consultation where you can ask me general questions about the therapy process and more specific questions about my practice and training. After this conversation, if you feel like I am a good fit for you then we can schedule our first session.
Are my therapy sessions confidential?
Yes, most definitely! Therapy is best experienced in a relationship of confidence and trust. Therefore, all therapy services are strictly confidential and may not be shared with anyone without your written permission, except where disclosure is required by law. Legal exceptions to confidentiality are in place to protect your safety and the safety of others such as reasonable suspicion of abuse/neglect of a child, elderly or dependent adult or when a client may be a danger to self, to others or to property.
How long will it take?
Sessions are typically 50-minutes in length. However, it is possible to schedule sessions to 75-minutes or longer if you prefer.
The length of treatment is unique to each client and is often based on the presenting issue(s), client treatment goal(s) and frequency of sessions. After your initial assessment, we can discuss a general timeline of what you can expect based off of your personal history and goals.
Do you take insurance?
I do not accept insurance. If you choose to seek insurance reimbursement, I am happy to provide you with a super bill (invoice) that you can submit directly to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please contact your insurance company, if you have questions about your coverage with out-of-network providers.
Do you offer sliding scale fees?
I keep approximately 15% of my practice available for sliding fee clients. If you have concerns that your current financial situation may prohibit you from accessing help, please feel free to share this in our phone consultation.
What if I need to cancel or change my appointment?
When you schedule a session, that time is reserved solely for you. For this reason, if you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask that you provide a 48-hour notice. If you miss a session without canceling, or cancel with less than a 48-hour notice, you will be charged the full fee for the session.
What happens if I see you in public?
In the unlikely, but possible, event that I see you outside of the office, I am discreet and will maintain your confidentiality. I will follow your lead, so it is your choice to acknowledge the encounter or not.
